Ethiopia Yergecheffe- ECX
Yergecheffe has it’s own flavor profile. Unlike some regions in Ethiopia that can veer towards a big fat blueberry, Yergecheffe can offer a more subtle and refined taste. Such is the case here.  We’re tasting a soft, Granny Smith apple-like acidity together with Earl-Grey tea flavors and a beautiful chardonnay finish, but with some brewing variations there is a lot of room to explore this treasure-trove of a coffee. This coffee came to us without too much info as it was auctioned off through Ethiopia’s Exchange system (hence ECX). What we CAN tell you is that our buyer baby-sat this lot through the whole process to make sure everything was given its due diligence- and that diligence paid off. Crisp, clean, light-bodied, and a rainbow of flavors. Perfect for the sprinkly-sun-shiny weather of early spring.

El Espresso

El Espresso is Spanish for “The Espresso.” It is our endeavor for the god-shot. As with all of our coffees, it is subject to the whims of what is delicious in the current crop of coffee. Far from being fickle, however, El Espresso will always uphold our ideals of what we think provides you with individual ounces of ambrosia. It’s current incarnation is an alluring balance of baker’s cocoa and blueberries with a very smooth body. Es Awesome.

Rwanda Coko

A very clean but complex coffee. The fragrance is spicy with dates and sage. The spice turns into a rose-water thing that really complements a citrus-y acidity and a soft body. A very clean finish and for those familiar with Rwandan coffee, this tastes like a very “classic” Rwanda. Sublime.

Colonel Guinta’s (jyn-tah’s) Blend

This is the shout-out blend. We wanted something that gave a nod to our roots while still venturing out into fresher territories. As such, we take this one a little darker to give you more of that brown sugar sweetness, but not so dark that it obscures the soft fruit acidity that makes the whole thing work. This is a coffee that goes for balance and it plays that part deliciously perfect every time. It was named after a friend and fellow comrade from our Peet’s days and is a definite promotion from the Major…

Decaf Mokha-Java -SWP

Such a great decaf! Seriously, I could go on and on about the full-bodied, raisin sweetness forever. While I was tasting and trying to pick apart the different aspects of this coffee it all coalesced under the term, “sherry.” Thick body with a long and lingering finish. You would be hard-pressed to find someone that could tell this was decaf. All the flavor without the caffeine. (That could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on where you’re coming from…)
