Ethiopia Banko Taratu
$ 23.00
Don’t be fooled by the “Banko” part of this coffee… It is indeed different than the Banko Gotiti that was recently released.
Without going into the oddly inconsistent ways in which coffees are named and designated throughout the supply chain (I’m looking at you Yellow Bourbon)- suffice it to say that this Banko Taratu is close in geography but with important key differences in processing and export:
Banko Gotiti is a cooperative coffee, its cherry gathered and processed through the community’s farmer co-op. Banko Taratu, the neighboring village, is run by an independent producer at its own processing site, using a double-fermentation washed method that turns a lot of the fruit and florals you’d expect from this area up to an 11.
Jasmine, wildflower honey, peaches, bittersweet cocoa… this coffee has got it all and is incredibly versatile across both the roasting and brewing spectrums. Want to accentuate all those high-toned florals and stone fruit? Stretch that ratio out a bit. Needing some heavy duty chocolate in your life with a little bit of candied fruit? Fine up that grind. It’s hard to brew a bad cup with this coffee.
Enjoy!
