What was supposed to be a single origin, became a blend, and then became a single origin again… This particular lot from the Uraga Site of Mr. Habtamu Fikadu Aga’s company, Kuri Coffee Company, came to us by way of our friends at Falcon Specialty. Originally supposed to be a single origin offering, we quickly realized it’s potential as an espresso and made it a part of our Cheers-y blend this past Christmas. It brought all the mouthfeel and high-toned fruit to the espresso that it was missing and turned a lovely offering into something more symphonic. Now that Cheers-y is done, we are excited to pull it back into its original offering, showcasing all of the bright potential Guji has in its washed offerings as an origin, and Kuri Coffee Company’s potential as a company/exporter. In the cup, this washed lot is a perfect example of ruby red grapefruit; citrusy but SUPER sweet. Tea like qualities follow with lemongrass and hibiscus, followed by a buoyant mouthfeel and a lychee fruit finish. It’s a bit of Vivaldi’s Spring movement on your palate.
