Burundi Marsha Kayanza
$ 20.50
Our first Burundi of the season is a subtle one. It took a little while to home in on the proper roast, not because one was better than the others, but rather this coffee was just so dang versatile! At lighter roasts this coffee has a very buttery mouthfeel with subtle hints at vanilla and fig. At the darker roasts the chocolate and more cooked fruit start to take center stage. We opted for a medium as we thought it best expressed the subtleties of the lighter roasts but still held on to some of that darker cocoa and fun, fruit-like acidities to help round everything out.
Masha washing station in located in the Kayanza region of Burundi and is home to over 3200 small-holder farmers who bring their coffee during the harvest season. Barely the size of Maryland, Burundi is a small, land-locked country and fairly difficult to source from, but is also an incredible coffee producing nation with specialty lots that can go toe-to-toe with any high scoring lots out there. Try this one and we think you’ll agree.
Enjoy!
